Yotta MVS’s Image Collection Process has been rigorously field-tested on millions of parcels. Our Process incorporates leading-edge database management tools, GIS applications, GPS data capture, and high-resolution digital photography. The technology is deployed through a fleet of mobile collection vehicles.
The Image Collection Process
Yotta MVS crews use the “Stop & Compose” and “Verify & Capture” approaches to image collection. This means field crews are able to capture images which accurately convey each property’s value, appearance, and characteristics. Each image is labeled with the parcel identification number and the date which the photograph was taken. Labeling images in the field with their corresponding unique identifiers ensures image database accuracy and is the cornerstone of Yotta MVS’s Image Collection Process.
Yotta MVS street-view images exceed industry standards, allowing assessors to zoom-in and examine the grade and condition of each structure.
Imaging Characteristics
Yotta MVS’s street-view images meet the IAAO’s Standard on Mass Appraisal - Alternative to Periodic On-site Inspection. Each photograph in an imaging project conforms to the following collection characteristics:
- Unobstructed, curbside photos are taken from the closest public access point.
- Structures are imaged so that, whenever possible, the front door or façade and one side of the building are visible.
- For commercial and industrial properties, a single photograph will be taken of each structure visible from public access.
- Each structure is framed so that the photograph appropriately captures the structure’s proportionate height, width, and exterior condition.
- No part of the structure will be cropped unless absolutely necessary due to size or location of the building on the property.
- All images will be clearly focused with appropriate tint, brightness, contrast and exposure.
Equipment
Each Yotta MVS field van is specially customized with high-end computers and collection equipment. The primary camera used in our fleet is the Olympus E-510. This professional digital camera offers high resolution images that provide superior image quality in any lighting condition.
A Yotta MVS van collects high-resolution street-view images as well as collecting & verifying field data.
